This recipe is the perfect indulgent chocolate recipe that will keep you warm through the whole of winter! S’mores are a classic American campfire treat that have been a camping favourite for decades.
This S’mores Dip for World Chocolate Day has all the delicious, toasted flavours of a campfire S’more, but in a less messy form that’s perfect for sharing, and that you can whip up so easily in your barbecue that you’ll find any excuse to make it, World Chocolate Day or not! It’s super easy to play around with the flavours, by changing up the chocolate, fruit and biscuits however you like. Try serving the dip with fresh pineapple and coconut macaroons for a tropical take, or to be really indulgent, use Tim Tams for dipping. It is world chocolate day after all!
Ingredients
½ tablespoon vegetable oil (such as coconut oil)
300 g chocolate chips (milk, dark or a mix of both)
2 chocolate bars of choice (e.g. mars bars), sliced
240 g marshmallows
Biscuits to serve (digestive biscuits are a classic pairing but try your favourites!)
Strawberries, fresh pineapple and/or sliced bananas to serve
Method
Step 1
Set up your barbecue for indirect cooking.
Step 2
Preheat your barbecue on high for 10 minutes (please refer to your handbook for further instructions).
Step 3
Place the vegetable oil into a medium sized barbecue safe frying pan. Place the chocolate chips into the pan and layer with the chocolate bar. Top with the marshmallows in an even layer.
Step 4
Once the barbecue has preheated turn the control knob(s) to the roast setting (please refer to your handbook for further instructions).
Step 5
Position the frying pan on the convection tray and trivet and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden.
Step 6
Serve with the fruit and biscuits, and enjoy!
